The Bible teaches us that you CAN know without a doubt that you are on your way to Heaven. The Plan of God can be clearly seen throughout the Scriptures. His plan was to supply a sacrifice, His only begotten Son, to take the place of all mankind. Before we come to that saving knowledge we must take care of a few things.
1. Admit that you are sinner.
The Scripture state that we are all sinners:
"For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;" (Romans 3:23)
"Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:" (Romans 5:12)
"If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us." (1 John 1:10)
2. Realize there is a punishment for sin
Jesus said: "I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish."(Luke 13:5)
"For the wages of sin is death..."(Romans 6:23a) This is both a physical and spiritual death separating you from God.
3. Believe that Jesus Christ died in your place, was buried, and rose from the dead.
"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.*"(John 3:16)
"But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners Christ died for us."(Romans 5:8)
"That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved." (Romans 10:9)
4. Through faith, invite Jesus into your life to become your personal Savior.
"For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation."(Romans 10:10)
"For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved."
(Romans 10:13)
So how do we trust Christ as our personal Savior? It's as simple as calling on His name and believing in your heart what you are praying.
Pray this prayer and believe in your Heart: "Dear God, I know that I'm a sinner, and I know that because of my sin I deserve death and Hell. But I believe that Jesus died and paid for all my sin and that He rose again on the third day proving they were all paid for. Right now, the best I know how, I receive the death of Jesus as full payment for all my sin. I am trusting Jesus alone for my salvation. Dear, Jesus come into my heart, forgive me of my sin, and give me a home in Heaven. Thank you for saving me. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen"
